To fulfill my 2007 New Years Resolution, I enrolled in a photography class January of 2008. :) The class has taught me a lot, but the most enjoyable part of it has been the actual practice. With the miracle of an invention we call the digital camera, I find myself taking over a 100 pictures in half an hour, just practicing and re-practicing different techniques. My favorite subjects so far have been half-willing friends for portrait shots and "macro" or close-up shots of nature. There is so much beauty out there!! I recently saw a quote that rang so true. It said, "The voyage of discovery is not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes." (Marcel Proust....whoever he is, he was wise!) Photography has given me those new eyes. And, metaphorically applied to my life, has helped me take new "snapshots" of old surroundings. Instead of running to something new, I am slowly learning to take a second look at that which has grown dull and faded around me. With new eyes, comes the re-birth of the beauty and blessings that surround me.
